How much do sessions cost? Do you take insurance?
I want to make therapy accessible, and I also need to run a sustainable practice in the SF Bay Area. It’s a tough balance!
My approach to fees is anchored in my values: service, kindness (towards clients and myself), authenticity, and transparency.
There are three primary levers that affect the cost of therapy.
Let’s pull on each lever and then bring it all together.
1. FEE PER SESSION
If you are financially comfortable, I ask that you pay my full fee: $235 per 50-minute session.
If you are facing financial hardships or constraints, I offer a sliding scale of fees. I invite you to choose a fee in the range of $135-$235 that feels doable.
2. FREQUENCY
The most common meeting frequencies are weekly, biweekly, or once per month. Each format has pros and cons, and we’ll explore the ideal balance for you. We can always change the frequency.
3. INSURANCE
I am considered an out-of-network provider. If you have out-of-network benefits through your insurance, the process looks like this: You pay for our session upfront (credit card or FSA/HSA card); receive a “Superbill” from me; and then submit it as an out-of-network claim. You can call your insurance and ask about “out-of-network mental health benefits for CPT code 90837.”
BRINGING IT ALL TOGETHER
Depending on the above, the cost of therapy is different for each person I work with. Let’s discuss it together:
